MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

It's a beautiful Memorial Day Weekend on Orcas Island! The Rosario Resort marina is full, the Cascade Bay Grill is open and the marina pool is open. A very special thanks to Director of Operations Jolene Versailles, Director of IT Dick Hansen, Front Desk agent Barbara Evans, Harbormaster Gary Joseph, Dockhands Cetacea Stanton, Jenole and Cara Peacock, Director of Engineering Deena Stitt and her staff Dave Hickman, Bobby Matheson, Andrew Fortin and Brieanna Bitzer for all their hard work in making Rosario look so beautiful!

My family and I sailed into the marina Sunday mid-day of Memorial Day Weekend for the evening. We enjoyed Gary's hospitality, the dock crew's singing, a campfire at the outdoor grill and of course some swimming with the kids. Long toss frisbee on the gorgeous grass alongside the marina was a treat, too. In the morning, a double mocha at the top of the dock prepped me for the lovely sail back to Bellingham on Monday, Memorial Day 2009. Thanks, Team Rosario, for the great weekend. Frankly, I don't mind the hotel being closed. The marina, marina grill, dockside swimming pool, showers, park-like setting, etc., are so delightful that this is a gem for boaters in the San Juans.

Until next time,
